The Short story!

Well, first off, to anyone reading this: THANK YOU! Just to have one set of eye-balls on this blog makes me so appreciative.

When trying to figure out where to go with this first little blog post, I wasn’t sure where to start—cause let me tell ya, theres A LOT to the story, so I’ll just keep it simple!

So! I grew up in the mountans of Colorado, and now live in Ohio.

As a senior in high school I just wanted to go as far away as I could (I totally took the beauty of my hometown for granted), so I packed up and started college at the University of Hawaii in the dance program. Not long into college I realized 2 things: 1) Hawaii was too far away, and I did, in fact, love Colorado, and 2) I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life! Needless to say, back to the mountains I went!

After some soul searching and an important camp-fire discussion with my mom, I decided to enter into the wedding industry to pursue wedding coordination. I really wanted to continue my education and actually use my degree, so I ended up graduating from Johnson and Wales University in Denver, with a bachelors in Event Management.

Straight out of college I got a job at a wedding floral and design company as an event design assistant and honestly? Dream job! But I still had aspirations to be my own boss and run my own company. Once my husband and I moved from my beloved home state, back to his (Ohio), Cheyene Nicole Events was born and I was finally coordinating weddings. During that time, however, I developed a love (or obsession, if im being honest) with all the pretty little details. Every small thing that made a wedding unique got me so excited and passionate about the events industry. I was even doing florals as a side hustle some days, and slowly grew my decor inventory. And thank goodness, because with the arrival of our son in 2019, I needed a shift. A move toward less time on a screen and shorter event days so I could better fill my role of full-time mama, while continuing my creative passions.

So after 5 successful years of coordiantion, I transisitoined exclusively to decor and florals— The Chic Bohemian: Where every unique story is celebrated with a joyful heart. To some, flowers are simply a beautiful thing. To me, flowers are an uplift and a joy, and signify the importance of slowing down and appreciating all the God-given moments, beucase nothing on this earth is forever. And I truly aim to bring this concept into my design work.

This rather informal blog page will serve as a braindump. A place to reflect on all things wedding, floral, color, details, trends, and sometimes simply a journal page to vent all the things I think about while designing—aka my petal ponders.

Until next time, keep blooming!
